Thanks to all Tech Heads for your support and interest in the show this past week.  Mark will return to the show but in a not so prominent role.  This episode I introduced a new direction – I wanted to get you guys, the real Aussie Tech Heads involved and provide a vehicle for you to disucss and debate what’s on your mind (tech related…well…..within reason).  Hopefully after some fine tuning we can progress the show onwards and upwards.  Special thanks to all those that listened live and also those that called in on Skype – And a BIG THANKS for those that download for later – THANKYOU!

Website for bookworms ready to rollOn Wednesday, The Reading Room — a social media website for book lovers — will go into public testing, coinciding with a promotional campaign to launch the site at the Sydney Writers’ Festival.

The site will compete with social media behemoth Facebook for friend referrals and recommendations among readers, and with global e-tailer Amazon for sales, but with a single-minded focus on avid readers.

“We’re creating a community for readers to live on and share books with each other and share their thoughts about reading,” Ms Anderson said.

Man charged over racist YouTube video – ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

The video shows a 39-year-old man from the Perth suburb of Maylands in front of Perth’s Bell Tower and a South Perth supermarket making anti-Semitic comments.

He has been charged with conduct intended to incite racial animosity or racist harassment.

The maximum penalty for the offence is 14 years’ jail.

RATEPAYERS have paid $11,000 for a 21-second YouTube clip showing a woman stepping in dog droppings.

The “pick up after your pooch” campaign video was made by Ultrafilms to encourage residents to clean up after their pets in Port Phillip.

The clip shows a young woman walking on the St Kilda esplanade before stepping in dung and falling over.

It follows the campaign to clean up Port Phillip streets by showing graphic videos of people urinating and vomiting.

Astronauts are giving a behind-the-scenes look at the space shuttle Atlantis’ high-risk mission to service the Hubble telescope, thanks to micro-blogging sensation Twitter.

Mike Massimino, 47, blasted off into space on Monday (local time) with six other crew members.

But thanks to Twitter, the space veteran is keeping his promise to stay posted, even from space.
